Progetto d'interni multifunzione | Multifunctional interior design

Questo progetto è stato ideato in collaborazione con l'architetto Stefania Ceruti e con la committenza. la società Promoscuola. Le richieste erano l'allestimento low budget di locali che sarebbero stati utilizzati per varie attività inerenti i loro progetti educativi: aree per lavoro di gruppo, area per l'accoglienza dei ragazzi, studio per le riprese televisive.

Abbiamo cercato di progettare degli spazi flessibili, che potessero essere utilizzati in modo diverso a seconda delle esigenze: ad esempio le riprese televisive vengono effettuate solo in alcuni giorni della settimana ma lo spazio può essere utilizzato negli altri giorni per il montaggio dei filmati e per i lavori di gruppo.

This project was conceived in collaboration with the architect Stefania Ceruti and with the client. the company Promoscuola. The requests were a low budget interior design for spaces that would be used for various activities related to their educational projects: group work areas, reception area, television shooting area.

We tried to design flexible spaces, which could be used in different ways depending on the needs: for example, television shooting is performed only on certain days of the week, but the space can be used on other days for editing movies and for group work.

Se leggete il mio blog forse anche voi siete degli appassionati di design come me. Ma non tutti possono permettersi una Panton chair originale di Vitra in fiberglass che costa più di 1.000€...

Tuttavia le icone del design vantano numerosissime imitazioni che potete trovare a prezzi accessibili su alcuni web shops ma ci sono anche siti che offrono prodotti disegnati da giovani creativi che sperimentano nuove forme e nuove combinazioni di materiali e colori.

Tavolo Archetype | Archetype table

Ho cercato a lungo un tavolo da mettere in sala da pranzo. Ce l'avevo in mente: un tavolo senza fronzoli. Ma nonostante la mia idea fosse semplicissima non lo trovavo in vendita fatto proprio così: aveva le gambe più sottili oppure delle modanature di troppo, o magari non era del materiale che volevo...
Così ho deciso di progettarlo io, in multistrato impiallacciato rovere (cm 200 x 90 x 73h), e l'ho chiamato Archetype perché è talmente semplice che incarna l'idea stessa di tavolo (nel senso platonico del termine).
Questo è il risultato: l'ha realizzato Giorgio Perego, falegname per passione e diletto.
Mancano solo delle belle sedie Panton bianco lucido da abbinarci: secondo voi ci starebbero bene? O avete altri suggerimenti da darmi in merito?

For a long time I've been looking for a table to put in the dining room. It was in my mind: a very simple table. But I didn't find anything like that in the furniture shops: legs were thinner or there were too many moldings, or maybe material was not the one I wanted ...
So I decided to design it myself, in oak veneered plywood (cm 200 x 90 x 73h), and I called it Archetype because it is so simple that embodies the "idea" of table (in the Platonic sense of the term).
This is the result: Giorgio Perego, carpenter for passion and delight, realized it for me.
I just need some nice glossy white Panton chairs to match with it: do you think it would be good? Or do you have other suggestions for me?

Progetto di una camera da letto | Bedroom interior design

Buona giornata!

L'anno scorso una signora mi ha chiesto consiglio su come arredare la camera da letto: unici vincoli il pavimento in parquet e il letto Aluminium rosso di MDF.

Ho consigliato di utilizzare come comodini i Componibili Tondi bianchi di Kartell, per contrastare la spigolosità del letto. Anche la lampada da tavolo Cord Mini di Design House Stockholm, elegante nel suo scarno minimalismo, gioca con le curvature. Di fronte al letto, la cassettiera bassa e lineare Anish (laccata bianca) di Horm, che ha come maniglie dei fori irregolari che sembrano scavati a mano ed attirano l’attenzione. Per spezzare con tutto questo rigore minimalista ho consigliato uno specchio barocco (Roses di Small Vintage Affair) che insieme alla stampa di Milo Manara aggiunge un tocco sensuale alla camera.

Good afternoon!

Last year a lady asked me an advice for her bedroom interior design: she had just he parquet floor and the red Aluminium bed by MDF.

I told her to use as bedside tables two white Componibili Tondi by Kartell, to counter bed's edginess. Even the  Cord Mini table lamp by Design House Stockholm, elegant in its minimalism, plays with bends. Opposite the bed, there's the low linear dresser Anish (painted white) by Horm, which has distinctive irregular holes handles that look hand-dug and attract attention. To break with this minimalist rigor I recommended a baroque mirro (Roses by Small Vintage Affair), that together with the Milo Manara print adds a sensual touch to the room.

Nuova collezione NIPPRIG di Ikea | New Ikea's NIPPRIG collection

Oggi è uscita la nuova collezione Ikea Nipprig!
L'intera collezione è in fibre naturali: giacinto d'acqua, rattan, banano, bambù, cocco.
Il giacinto d'acqua è una pianta infestante del sudest asiatico, ma i vietnamiti hanno saputo trasformare il problema in una risorsa utilizzandola per produrre oggetti d'artigianato.
La collezione è in tre colori: naturale, verde e nero.
Ecco qui di seguito i prodotti che a mio parere sono più interessanti!

Today in Italy Ikea launches the new collection Nipprig!
The entire collection is made from natural fibers: water hyacinth, rattan, banana, bamboo, coconut.
The water hyacinth is a weed in Southeast Asia, but the Vietnamese were able to transform the problem into an asset by using it to produce handicrafts.
The collection is in three colors: natural, green and black.
Here you are the products that I believe are most interesting!

Panton chair, amore mio! | Panton chair, my love!

Credo di avere una insana passione per quelle sinuose sedie disegnate da Verner Panton  nel lontano 1956 (prodotta nel 1965). Credo starebbero benissimo con il mio tavolo squadrato in rovere chiaro (sembra a quello nella foto sotto), anche se non riesco a decidermi tra quelle bianche e quelle verde lime.
Se anche voi ne siete innamorati... vi posso consigliare un sito dove averle al miglior prezzo in assoluto: Mondo Arreda. Naturalmente sono delle copie, non sono quelle di Vitra.

I think I have an insane passion for those curvy chairs designed by Verner Panton in 1956 (produced in 1965). I think they would be fine with my light oak square table (it seems the one in the photo below), even if I cannot decide between the white ones and those lime green.
If you too are fond of them... I can recommend you a site where you'll find the best price ever: Mondo Arreda. Of course they are copies, not Vitra ones.

Angolo studio in 5 mosse | Home office in 5 tips

Lavorate in casa?
Voi o i vostri figli avete bisogno di un angolo per studiare?
Oggi vi darò alcuni consigli per creare un angolo studio adatto alle vostre esigenze.

1. Individuare una nicchia, un angolo o una porzione di parete da adibire allo studio, accertandovi che ci siano delle prese di corrente (per la lampada, il PC, la stampante e la ricarica di cellulari/fotocamere/telecamere).
2. Definite la zona dipingendo o rivestendo la parete (in legno, piastrelle, resina, vernice lavagna...).
3. Attrezzate con un piano di lavoro (scrivania, tavolo o mensola), una sedia (preferibilmente girevole) e alcuni armadietti o scaffali in cui sistemare libri e faldoni.
4. Aggiungete un punto luce dedicato: una lampada da tavolo oppure una da parete orientata verso il piano.
5. Infine aggiungete sulla parete alcuni accessori che renderanno l'area studio più efficiente: una lavagna su cui appuntare scadenze e idee, un motto che ci aiuti a mantenere la motivazione al lavoro (tipo “L’immaginazione è più importante della conoscenza” Albert Einstein), un calendario.

Do you work at home? 
You or your children need a corner to study? 
Today I will give you some tips to create a home office that suits your needs. 

1. Identify a niche, a corner or a portion of the wall to be used as home office, making sure that there are sockets (for lamp, PC, printer and charging cell phones/cameras/video cameras). 
2. Define the area by painting or coating the wall (with wood, tiles, resin, chalkboard paint...).
3. Fit out the location with a work surface (desk, table or shelf), a chair (preferably revolving) and some cabinets or shelves in which to place books and folders. 
4. Add a dedicated light: a table lamp or a wall lamp oriented toward the desk.
5. Finally, add some accessories on the wall that will make the home office more efficient: a blackboard on which to pin deadlines and ideas, a motto that helps us to maintain the motivation to work (such as "Imagination is more important than knowledge" Albert Einstein), a calendar.

Idee per creare un soggiorno all'esterno | Ideas for an oudoor living room

Oggi vi darò qualche dritta per creare un'area esterna accogliente e vivibile come un vero e proprio soggiorno.

1. Prima di tutto delimitate l'area attraverso la pavimentazione: creando una pedana rialzata in legno, oppure differenziando la pavimentazione rispetto alle zone di transito, oppure mettendo un tappeto o una stuoia per esterni (prossimamente farò un post dedicato ai tappeti per esterni con le marche e i modelli più interessanti).
2. Quindi create intimità attorno alla zona con l'aggiunta di vegetazione: aiuole o vasi con bambù, fiori, piante. Fate attenzione alla scelta delle specie, secondo l'esposizione solare dell'area (soleggiata, ombreggiata o semi-ombreggiata).
3. Potete anche proteggere l'area con un pergolato, un gazebo, una tenda da sole o un ombrellone: valutate se è necessaria una protezione dal sole, dalla pioggia o da entrambi, a seconda del clima della vostra zona e dell'uso che vorrete fare del soggiorno esterno.
4. Quindi dedicatevi agli arredi: servono sedute e tavolini. Le sedute possono essere divanetti, panche con cuscini, poltrone o cuscini da pavimento. Se abitate in una località piovosa, meglio scegliere il tessuto dei cuscini idrorepellente così non dovrete continuamente riporli all'asciutto.
5. Infine pensate all'illuminazione: potete mettere delle lanterne per illuminare solo con candele e creare un'atmosfera elegante e romantica; oppure potreste appendere al gazebo/pergolato una catena di lampade ed ottenere un effetto più giocoso; infine potreste utilizzare arredi luminosi che creano un'atmosfera surreale.

Today I'll tell you a few tips to create a cozy and livable outdoor area, like a real living room.

1. First of all you should border the area with flooring: creating a raised wood platform, or by differentiating the flooring from the one of transit zones, or putting an outdoor carpet or mat (soon I'll post a section dedicated to outdoor rugs with interesting brands and models).
2. Then you have to create intimacy around the area with the addition of vegetation: bamboo beds or pots, flowers, plants. Pay attention to the choice of types, according to solar exposure (sunny, shady or semi-shady).
3. You can also protect the area with pergola, gazebo, awning or umbrella: evaluate if you need a protection from sun, rain, or both, depending on the climate in your area and on the use that you'd like to do of this outdoor living room.
4. Then chose the furniture: you need seats and tables. The seats can be sofas, benches with cushions, chairs or floor cushions. If you live in a rainy location, choose the best water-repellent fabric cushions (so you won't have to continually put them dry).
5. Finally, think about the lighting: you can put lanterns to enlighten only with candles and to create an elegant and romantic atmosphere; or you could hang on the gazebo/arbor a chain of lamps and achieve a more playful effect; finally, you could use bright furnishings that create a surreal atmosphere.

Culle sospese per sogni oscillanti | Suspended cots for swinging dreams

E' arrivato il caldo primaverile e si cominciano ad abbandonare i cappotti e i piumini. Forse per questo si notano di più le pance delle mamme in dolce attesa!

E allora vi presento alcune bellissime culle sospese, perché i vostri cuccioli possano sentirsi dondolati come quando erano ancora nella pancia...

Camerette da sogno! | Fabulous kids'room!

Per i nostri bambini vorremmo sempre il meglio, vero? Allora vi presento alcune camerette che i vostri figli adorerebbero.
Potete prendere spunto da queste per migliorare l'arredamento e la decorazione delle vostre, senza necessariamente spendere un capitale.
Basta poco per rendere speciale un locale anonimo:

1. Prima di tutto scegliete un tema decorativo (mare, dinosauri, pirati, Barbapapà, fate, farfalle... e chi più ne ha più ne metta!).
2. Quindi scegliete una palette di colori adatta al tema: in base a quella sceglierete il colore delle pareti, le parure letto coordinate e gli accessori (le pareti possono anche essere decorate con stickers o dipinte: se non siete abili con il pennello... potete chiamare archiLAURA!).
3. Poi servono gancetti e contenitori per avere tutto in ordine.
4. Infine, se avete spazio, potete creare  un angolo lettura morbido e accogliente.

Se avete problemi di spazio, io vi consiglio sempre i letti a soppalco anche se la camera è singola: lo spazio sotto il letto può essere utilizzato come angolo gioco e lettura (foto 3), armadio (foto 4) o spazio compiti (foto 5).
Trovate in vendita soluzioni a soppalco già pronte, praticamente di tutte le marche di arredo camerette (ad esempio foto 1, 2 e 7). 
Ma per avere una cameretta unica potete realizzarla voi o farla realizzare su misura da un falegname di fiducia.
Potete fare uno scivolo che scende dal letto a soppalco (foto 6) oppure farlo a forma di casetta (foto 8), di tenda (foto 9), di roulotte (foto 10), di barca (foto 11) o ricavarlo proprio da un vecchio furgoncino (foto 12)!
La prossima volta focalizzerò l'attenzione sulle decorazioni murali delle camerette: era un argomento troppo ricco per includerlo qui!

For our children we want the best, right? So I'm going to present you some bedrooms that your kids would love.
You can take a cue from these to improve your home decoration, without necessarily spending a fortune.
Very little is needed to make a local anonymous become special:

1. First of all, choose a decorative theme (sea, dinosaurs, pirates, Barbapapa, fairies, butterflies... and so on and so forth!).
2. Then choose a color palette, according to the theme: from that you'll choose wall color, bedding and accessories (walls can also be decorated with stickers or painted: if you are not adept with the brush... you can call archiLAURA! ) .
3. Then serve hooks and containers to get everything in order.
4. Finally, if you have room enough, you can create a soft and cozy reading corner.

If you have small space, I would always recommend you the bunk bed even if it's a single room: the space under the bed can be used as a playing and reading area (photo 3), wardrobe (photo 4) or desk (photo 5).
You can find ready made bunk bed from virtually all brands of bedrooms furniture (eg photos 1, 2 and 7).
But to have a special room you can achieve it or have it made ​​to measure by a carpenter of confidence.
You can make a slide that comes down from the loft bed (photo 6), or do it in the form of cottage (photo 8), tent (photo 9), caravan (photo 10), boat (photo 11) or just extract it from an old van (photo 12)!
Next time I will focus on the wall decorations of the kids'bedrooms: it was a topic too rich to include it here!
