Facciamo decluttering! | Let's declutter!

Approfittando ancora dell'assenza delle mie figlie, ho deciso di fare un po' di decluttering* nella loro cameretta: quando ci sono loro non mi lasciano buttare niente, neanche i giochini da neonati!

Come riorganizzare un cassetto | DIY Drawer organizer

Figlie al mare con i nonni. Giornata uggiosa. Voglia di mettere ordine dove non lo faccio... da anni.

E così ho deciso di riorganizzare il mio cassetto del comò.

Dopo aver fatto un progettino del divisorio che avrei voluto realizzare, ho comprato da Leroy Merlin un foglio di MDF spesso 4 mm per la folle cifra di 1€ (era un ritaglio circa 80 x 30 cm).

Ho disegnato a matita le sagome da ritagliare e poi ho proceduto al taglio con il cutter e il traforo.

Ottenute le sagome ho passato la carta vetrata per regolarizzare e lisciare i bordi e infine ho incastrato i pezzi: cosa ne dite?

Daughters on holiday with grandparents. Gloomy day. Desire to bring order where I didn't... for years.

And so I decided to reorganize my dresser drawer.

After making a little project of the partition that I wanted to accomplish, I bought from Leroy Merlin a 4 mm thick sheet of MDF  for the crazy amount of 1€ (it was a clipping about 80 x 30 cm).

I drew with pencil the shapes to be cut out and then I proceeded to cut with cutter and fretsaw.

After obtaining the shapes, I spent sandpaper to regulate and smooth the edges and then I stuck the pieces: what do you think?

La natura ispira la recinzione | Nature inspires fence

Qualche giorno fa, camminando fra le vie di Parigi, avvicinandomi alla Tour Eiffel da Rue de l'Université, sono passata dal Musée du Quai Branly (museo etnologico dedicato alle arti primitive ed alle civiltà "non occidentali", progettato da Jean Nouvel) e sono rimasta piacevolmente colpita dalla sua recinzione: si fonde e confonde con la vegetazione del giardino creando una barriera che non infastidisce la vista.

Some day ago, walking through the streets of Paris, getting close to the Eiffel Tower from Rue de l'Université, I passed by Musée du Quai Branly (ethnological museum dedicated to primitive arts and "non-Western" civilizations, designed by Jean Nouvel) and I was pleasantly surprised from his fence: it melts and blends with the vegetation of the garden, creating a barrier that doesn't disturb the view.

Design a piccoli prezzi | Low cost design

Se leggete il mio blog forse anche voi siete degli appassionati di design come me. Ma non tutti possono permettersi una Panton chair originale di Vitra in fiberglass che costa più di 1.000€...

Tuttavia le icone del design vantano numerosissime imitazioni che potete trovare a prezzi accessibili su alcuni web shops ma ci sono anche siti che offrono prodotti disegnati da giovani creativi che sperimentano nuove forme e nuove combinazioni di materiali e colori.

If you read my blog, perhaps you are design addict like me. But not everyone can afford an original Vitra Panton chair in fiberglass that costs more than € 1,000...
However the design icons have numerous affordable imitations that you can find on some web shops and there are also sites that offer products by young designers who experiment with new forms and new combinations of materials and colors.

Giocando a fare il designer | Playing at being a designer

Il design giocoso e sinuoso mi fa impazzire! Questa serie di lampade e specchi prodotti dall'olandese DH PH sembrano usciti dalle mani di un bambino che gioca con la pasta da modellare. E infatti la collezione si chiama LEDS Clay ed ha una struttura metallica rivestita da creta. 
Mi sembrano proprio adatti ad arredare una cameretta... ma ovviamente sono perfetti anche per gli eterni bambini come me. La serie è stata progettata da Maarten Baas e da Bertjan Pot: il primo bravo a giocare con la creta, il secondo con le lucine... A parte gli scherzi: il risultato della loro collaborazione è davvero fantastico! A voi piacciono?

The playful and sinuous design drives me crazy! This series of lamps and mirrors produced by the Dutch DH PH seem to come from the hands of a child playing with modeling clay. In fact, the collection is called LEDS Clay and has a metallic structure covered with clay.

They just seem suitable to furnish a kid's room... but of course they are also perfect for the eternal children like me. The series was designed by Maarten Baas and Bertjan Pot: the first good at playing with clay, the second with the lights... Seriously: the result of their collaboration is really fantastic! Do you like it?

Un giro all'EXPO Milano 2015 | A stroll to EXPO Milan 2015

Ieri è stato inaugurato l'EXPO 2015 di Milano e oggi la mia amica Federica è andata a visitarlo inviandomi poi le foto. Io non vedo l'ora di andarci: sembra molto interessante ed è come fare il giro del mondo in un giorno! Non condivido le numerose polemiche circolate sui mass media a discapito della manifestazione e del suo tema "Nutrire il Pianeta, Energia per la Vita", così importante e fondamentale per l'umanità. Inoltre per la prima volta all'EXPO partecipano così tanti Paesi (145) da rappresentare il 94% dell'intera popolazione mondiale!
Voi cosa ne pensate? Non vi sembra un'opportunità unica avere l'EXPO in Italia? O credete che sia solo uno spreco di denaro?

Yesterday EXPO 2015 was inaugurated in Milan and today my friend Federica went to visit it, sending me photos. I can't wait to go there: it looks very interesting and it's like going around the world in one day! I disagree with the many controversies circulated on Italian media at the expense of the event and its theme "Feeding the Planet, Energy for Life", so important and crucial for humanity. For the first time at EXPO there are so many countries (145) participating thet they represent the 94% of the world!
What do you think? Don't you think it's a unique opportunity to have EXPO in Italy? Or do you believe that it's just a waste of money?

Auguri Lavoratori! | Happy Workers Day!

Oggi è la festa dei lavoratori.
Vorrei fare gli auguri a quei lavoratori che non hanno più un lavoro, affinché possano trovarne un altro presto.
Vorrei fare gli auguri ai lavoratori sfruttati, affinché possano trovare tutti insieme la forza per ribellarsi al sopruso.
Vorrei fare gli auguri a tutte le donne, perché dopo il lavoro retribuito ne hanno molto altro da fare a casa che non sempre è ricambiato dall'affetto o dalla gratitudine.
Oggi festeggiamo tutti, perché è anche la loro festa!

Today it's Workers Day.
I would like to wish those workers who no longer have a job to find another one soon.
I would like to wish to the exploited workers to find together the strength to rebel against injustice.
I would like to wish joy to all women, because after paid work they have much else to do at home, and it's not always reciprocated affection or gratitude.
Today we celebrate them all, because it is also their celebration!
